2019年小學英語晨讀練習：《Grandfather's Journey Day3》

　　But a war began. Bombs fell from the sky and scattered our lives like leaves in a storm.

　　然而，戰爭爆發了。炮彈從天而降，我們像風暴中的樹葉一樣，四處逃難。

　　When the war ended， there was nothing left of the city and of the house where my grandparents had lived.

　　戰爭結束后，城市變為了廢墟，外公家的房子也被夷為平地。

　　So they returned to the village where they had been children. But my grandfather never kept another songbird.

　　就這樣，他們回到了童年時候的村子，而我的外公再沒有養過會唱歌的鳥兒。

　　The last time I saw him， my grandfather said that he longed to see California one more time.  He never did.

　　我最后一次見到外公的時候，他對我說，他想再回加州看一看。然而，他終究沒有去成。

　　And when I was nearly grown， I left home and went to see California for myself.

　　長大之后，我離開家，來到了加州。

　　After a time， I came to love the land my grandfather had loved， and I stayed on and on until I had a daughter of my own.

　　漸漸地，我也愛上了外公深愛過的這片土地，在這里留了下來，并且有了自己的女兒。

　　But I also miss the mountains and rivers of my childhood. I miss my old friends. So I return now and then， when I cannot， still the longing in my heart.

　　然而，我也會懷念故鄉的山川，懷念故鄉的朋友，所以我偶爾也會回去。即使無法回去，心中的思念仍不間斷。

　　The funny thing is， the moment I am in one country， I am homesick for the other.

　　有趣的是，每當我來到其中的一個國家時，我就會思念另一個國家。

　　I think I know my grandfather now.

　　I miss him very much.

　　我想，我現在懂了我的外公。我非常想念他。
